                Rooted in Christ,
                                  Called to Life…..

The Bruges Community welcomed the General Chapter of the Congregation between the 14th and 26th July. This is an event that takes place every 3 or six years.

This time, it was historic as Rome asked all the perpetually professed sisters under the age of 85 to participate.

                                                                 “

ô After we had listened to the reports of each Prioress and seen the PowerPoint Presentations that accompanied them - Sr Colette Marthouret (France) was elected Prioress General with Sr Marty Aline Hubain (Belgium), Sr Margaret Mary (Kingston-near-Lewes GB and Rwamagana, Rwanda), Sr Françoise de Pierpont (Kingston-near-Lewes GB), and Sr Mary Stephen Mukamana (Rwamagana, Rwanda) as Counsellors.

ô  The great event of the Chapter :
Four sisters – Oblates of St. Victor (France and Tanzania) made their profession as Canonesses and were received into the Congregation on 21st July, Feast of St. Victor, and Patron of that branch of our Congregation.

ô Special theme:
The formation of our young Rwandan and Tanzanian sisters was discussed as well as the best way of financing these communities.

ô Six Tanzanian Oblates came especially from Champagne-sur-Rhone (France) to Bruges to ensure the practical running of the house during this time - which they did in in a very friendly as well as efficient way.

Lent and Easter ...

Easter is coming soon...

Please note the timetable in ACTIVITIES

LENT
The Church gives us these forty days of Lent each year to purify us in preparation for the greatest Festival in the Church’s calendar – Easter – the Feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord from the dead.

The number forty is in memory of the forty years of the Israelites in the desert (see Exodus) and of Our Lord’s forty days of fasting in the desert before he started his public life.
The 6 Sundays of Lent in this Year 1 OR A follow the traditional preparation.

1st Sunday – The Temptations of Our Lord in the desert.
Christ, the Second Adam, who overcame temptation and sin, and by his obedience won back the world to God.
2nd Sunday – The Transfiguration of Our Lord on Mount Tabor
Our natural inclination is to stay where we are, to make a tent and settle comfortably.
But God is continually urging us on to a land he will show us by following our
transfigured Lord in faith, putting our trust in him and bearing hardships for the sake of
the good news he has brought us.
